The Minister of State Joseph Harmon has apologised for an initial statement he made on salary increases for government ministers. The Minister, questioned by reporters, on October 6 had said “We have to pay people well if we want them to perform. I am not going to say that I make any apologies whatsoever for Ministers getting increase in salaries, they deserve it.” However, earlier today, November 20, 2015, the Minister apologised for his statement “In the event that the Guyanese people felt offended by my statement, then to the Guyanese people I would say if they felt hurt or offended by it I apologise to the Guyanese people, not the PPP because I don’t believe the deserve it”.
