PPP MP crashes into truck, abandons car

Accused of crashing into a truck and then abandoning his vehicle on West Berbice public road, Member of Parliament of the Opposition PPP/Civic and long serving General Secretary of the troubled Rice Producers Association (RPA), Dharamkumar Seeraj, is expected to appear in the Fort Wellington Magistrate’s court today.

He was charged with dangerous driving. Seeraj of Eccles, East Bank Demerara, is accused of driving his vehicle in a dangerous manner on the West Berbice public road last Thursday, when he attempted to overtake a truck at Bath, West Coast Berbice. He was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol and it is assumed that he lost control of his vehicle and slammed into the truck. He subsequently abandoned his vehicle and went away. The matter was reported and Seeraj was contacted and charged.
