WPA ASKS: BAISHANLIN – GIVEAWAY OR TAKE AWAY OR BOTH?
A 2012 study done by the Guyana Forestry Commission places the area of Guyana under forests at 18.4 million hectares. In its official publication, Baishanlin, a company from mainland China, boasts that it controls 960,000 hectares in Guyana by a network of fifteen companies in Guyana. That means that one out of every twenty hectares of forested lands in Guyana is controlled by Baishanlin. Here is how Baishanlin shows its holdings on the Guyana map:

Baishanlin has been in Guyana for ten years but most of the 5.22% of our forests it controls were acquired in the past five years. If the PPP/C wins the May 11 elections and if Baishanlin’s continues its aggressive acquisition strategy, it will own one out of every ten hectares of Guyana forests. Do you want that to happen?
A vote for the PPP/C is a vote for them to give all the Guyana forests to Baishanlin. Protect and preserve Guyana. Take back our forests. Take back our country. Vote APNU+AFC.
