GRANGER COUNTERS DANGEROUS RACE-BAITING BY PPP/C

Brigadier David Granger, Leader of the People's National Congress Reform and Presidential Candidate for the APNU+AFC Coalition visited the indigenous community of Paramakatoi in Region No. 8 on Sunday 3rd May 2015 to listen to the resident's concerns and to share his vision of development for the Region.

On his arrival, Brigadier Granger and his team received troubling reports of vicious rumours that the PPP/C Government had been spreading. The first such rumour was that an APNU+AFC Government would deny people’s right to worship; in the case of Paramakatoi, where a great number of the residents are Christian, this would mean the forced closure of churches. The Leader responded that he has been a devout Christian his entire life and as such would never move against Christians, or any other religious group in Guyana.

The second rumour being spread was that Brigadier Granger would “kill straight-hair people”. He had this to say to the nearly 150 in attendance. “You see my wife? My wife is sitting at the head table. You see her hair? I’ve been married to this lady for 45 years. I never cut her hair off. I love her. That’s why I’ve been married to her for 45 years. I am a Guyanese and I love all Guyanese."

Brigadier Granger was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Sandra Granger and PNCR Vice Chairman and former APNU Parliamentarian, Dr. George Norton.
